the attic of my mind

A new aerial view

::

A couple days ago I got to go flying with my dad. Its always fun to fly with someone else–you notice so much more than you do while you’re at the controls. Surprised? Well, maybe you don’t notice more, but just different things. The plane’s shadow on the ground, the geese in a “V” a thousand feet below, how high the rivers are running. You aren’t busy scanning for traffic, listening for your call from ATC, or monitoring the plane. It’s a completely different experience; it almost like taking off your instrument hood after shooting a bunch of approaches–you just see so much more.
